Clinical Nurse Specialists

St Christopher’s and Harris HospisCare with St Christopher’s exist to promote and provide skilled compassionate care. We have Community Nurse Specialist (CNS) vacancies at both our Sydenham and Orpington sites. The St Christopher’s Group has 40 CNSs divided into six teams, one based at Harris HospisCare in Orpington and the other five at St Christopher’s in Sydenham.

CNSs carry a caseload of 20-25 patients, 25% of whom are referred with a non-malignant condition. CNSs assess patients and families both at home and in our outpatient clinic centres. We offer a 24/7 advice and visiting service. Our CNSs also work closely with our Care Home Team facilitators who are implementing the Gold Standards Framework into care homes.

We are keen to develop our CNSs into Advance Practitioners and run an advanced assessment/clinical examination module in partnership with King’s College London. We offer many training opportunities, as well as opportunities to contribute to our education and training programmes and participate in research and audit projects. You will have proven palliative care/oncology experience with relevant qualifications and have significant experience of working as an RGN at Band 6 or above.

All applicants must possess a current driving licence. Continuity of NHS Superannuation Pension is available.
