Why Donate to Harris HospisCare

The reasons to make a donation vary from person to person, some donate in memory of a loved one and to say thank you for the care we gave at their time of need. Others give as a kind of insurance policy; they do not need our services now but want them to be there just in case. Some want to feel part of an event, to have fun and some just feel it is the right thing to do. All have a common goal – they want to ensure that patients facing the end of their lives can have the opportunity to have excellent care in the hands of the hospice nurses.

Why your money counts

Most people assume that the hospice must be a depressing place when in fact the opposite is true. Your donations enable us to help our patients and their families enjoy what time they have left together – however long that may be.

Gift Aid

Did you know that Gift Aid increases your donation by 25% - without you having to do anything other than tell us you are a UK tax payer?

The H M Revenue and Customs scheme will allow us to reclaim the tax you paid on your donation which means that a £10 donation will be worth £12.50. Once you confirm that you are a UK tax payer we can reclaim the tax on all your donations over the past four years and continue to claim until you tell us otherwise.

Even if you are not employed you are still eligible if you pay tax on:

• your personal or occupational pension
• bank and building society savings accounts
• stocks and shares capital gains or dividends
• rental income

If you are donating online simply answer positively to the gift aid prompt. If you are sending in a donation by cheque please download and complete our Gift Aid declaration form and return to us with your cheque.

If you are a higher rate tax payer you can reclaim the remaining portion of the tax you paid via your tax return or choose to donate some or all of this to Harris HospisCare too using form SA100 Charity ‘Giving your tax repayment to charity’ and quoting our charity code RAD05EG.
