Why leave a gift in your Will to Harris HospisCare?

Leaving a gift in your Will can ensure that our care will continue into the future. It is also a very tax efficient way of giving, planned carefully it can make a real difference to the value of your gifts to your loved ones as well as providing essential funds for the hospice.

Writing your Will

Writing your Will is vitally important if you want to ensure your wishes are carried out after you die, yet it is estimated that only 30% of people have written their Will. It seems to be regarded as something that can be ‘done tomorrow’ as no-one likes to think about their own death. Spending just a few hours talking to a Solicitor or Professional Will Writer can make all the difference in securing your family’s future.

Once you have made provisions for your family and friends you may wish to leave a gift to Harris HospisCare. There are three main ways in which you can do this:

• A Residue Gift – this means that whatever is left after you have planned for family and friends will be given to the hospice

• A Pecuniary Gift – a specified cash amount

• A Specified Gift – an item such as jewellery or property

Amendment to your existing Will

If you have already written your Will you can add an instruction to include a gift to Harris HospisCare, this is called a ‘Codicil’ and can be easily completed by your Solicitor or Professional Will Writer.

Make a Will Week

Make a Will Week takes place in March each year whereby local solicitors will offer their Will writing services free of charge, for a simple Will, in return for an inclusion of a Legacy to Harris HospisCare.
