Cycle for Life
Thanks to everyone who attended the 2013 Cycle for Life, local businesses for their support, and to the volunteers for their hard work. We hope to see everyone again at next year’s Cycle For Life.
Over 120 cyclists participated in Harris HospisCare’s first ever Cycle For Life event this Sunday (14 July). Cyclists chose 20k, 40k or 100k scenic routes around the Kent countryside, starting and finishing in Goddington Park, Orpington.
The event was supported by one of the hospice’s Lymphoedema patients, Grant Prosser, who completed the 40k route. Grant is new to cycling and despite a puncture during the ride, he completed the route with help from ladies at Penge Cycle Club. He has raised over £500 in sponsorship so far.
Deputy Mayor Judi Ellis attended the event to congratulate the cyclists and thank volunteers. Dr Bike from Bromley Council were on hand to make sure the cyclist’s bikes were up to the challenge. Attendees also made their own fresh drinks pedalling on the smoothie bike. Additional support was received from Reptile Events, AJ Jarvis butchers and St Johns Ambulance.
