Harris HospisCare with St Christopher’s aims to improve the quality of life of its patients through the provision of specialist palliative care, by supporting families and carers, and by supporting and educating fellow healthcare professionals.
Care
Delivered by our multiprofessional team, our services for people in the London Borough of Bromley focus on the physical and emotional wellbeing of our patients and those close to them. They include:
- home care 24 hours a day, seven days a week delivered by a multiprofessional team
- day care at the Caritas Centre
- a lymphoedema service to ease swollen limbs
- social work and welfare support
- creative and complementary therapies
- bereavement support and
- spiritual care.
We deliver these services in peoples’ own homes and at the Caritas Centre.
Education and training
We share our skills and expertise with our health and social care colleagues throughout the Bromley borough, including GPs, district nurses, allied health professionals, care homes and hospitals, through a programme of education and training.
Funding
It costs £1.5 million to deliver our specialist services each year but only a third of this comes from the NHS. We are grateful to our local community and the trusts and foundations that support us for their generosity which enables us to continue to deliver our services free of charge.
